"The media and its journalists are no less corrupt than government officials and politicians." If the news is served as it is without the propaganda of journalists, its significance can remain intact as well as help build a healthy society and nation. But, its current state is completely different.
The media is the fourth pillar of democracy. It is used as an independent means of communicating information to the public. The role of the media is paramount in a healthy democracy in modern times. Any act of the media coming under the control or influence of any government, individual or group, and interfering with news and information is beyond its morality. In addition, instead of presenting the news as it should, journalists' own views on the public do not fall within the scope of its main purpose.
In today’s digital and information & technology age, the media industry has created a huge boom. Thousands of media outlets create a competitive environment at the national, international, and regional levels and cover a wide range of topics. They are also commendable for this.
Looking at the media work of the front lines these days, a different and opposite aspect of it is evident. Tempted by the business strategy of other industries, the media is losing its morale, and it is slowly losing confidence in the people. Journalists are influencing the public with their own personal opinions, with less actual information in the news. With the financial backing of governments, groups, and politicians, they have somehow created a certain ideology in the media. For example, Rajdeep Sardesai, Ravish Kumar, Barkha Dutt, Sagarika Ghose, Nidhi Rajdan, Purna Prasun Vajpayee, Abhisar Sharma, Binod Dua, and Siddharth Bardharajan are prominent and most influential figures among them in the first line of Indian national media. In addition, major media outlets such as NDTV, ABP News, Aajtak, Zee News, News18, Republic Bharat, TV9 Bhartbarsa, The Wire, The Quint, News Nation, News18, Times Now, India Today, CNN News and News 24 only provide a targeted opinion in favor of certain political parties. Apparently, they have nothing to do with the news. In order to criticize or oppose the opposition and to support the supporters, they are using their qualifications to make the opinion that the public will be influenced by them and become supporters of that ideology. In this regard, a huge system works. Some of the above organizations are also known to have been directly or indirectly established by the government to uphold their ideology. Sometimes it appears that the above journalists are so influential in the front lines that they can even control the call like the government and the cabinet. It's deadly. The commercial impact on the media has been so big that the news channels seem to be advertising channels. Here are some of the ones I found to be interesting: Advertisements of 5-10 minutes are presented in every 1-2 minute report. They have a cynical attitude towards individuals or political parties that provide themselves with huge advertisements, and they only report on their behalf, ignoring their good and bad deeds.
Most of the time, the headlines of the channels and the news coverage on the high accent of the news anchors create a sense of annoyance. The mainstream news channels on the youtube platform are not only misleading the general public by spreading over-the-top and bizarre types of thumbnails full of misinformation, but also creating a horrible environment based on false information. In today’s vast society of the Internet, from the smallest to the largest, from the educated to the uneducated, from the smallest leader to the peasants, almost everyone nowadays is exposed to the news using the internet, while misleading and exaggerated news is circulating among them with no validation. As a result, they are more prone to false and misleading information. This has a negative impact on society and the country.
In one sentence - "The media and its journalists are no less corrupt than government officials and politicians." If the news is served as it is without the propaganda of journalists, its significance can remain intact as well as help build a healthy society and nation. But, its current state is completely different.
